Karnataka Rajyotsava also known as Karnataka State Day or Kannada Day is celebrated annually on 1 November in the Indian state of Karnataka. It commemorates the merger in 1956 of the Kannada-speaking regions of southwestern India under the States Reorganisation Act to form the state in Bangalore.

White coat ceremony was held on oct 7th 2025 that symbolizes professionalism and the weight of responsibility of the young medical students on receiving their first white coat. The program started with the welcome speech by Principal Dr.S. Sivasuthan sir,followed by lighting the lamp. Chief guest Col.Dr. Rajan ,Pulmonologist and former HOD Respiratory Medicine SUTAMS, given an impressive speech on the new medical innovations and the duties and responsibilities of a doctor. Feliciating speech by CAO followed by the white coat distribution by different faculties of various departments. Oath of the program was delivered by the Dean ,Dr. Jayalekshmi and vote of thamks by RMO ,Dr.Selmath.

The Comprehensive Training Program on Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Ethics, organized by the Institutional Ethics Committee of Sree Uthradom Thirunal Academy of Medical Sciences (SUTAMS), was successfully conducted on 9th October 2025. The event began with registration, followed by an inaugural session graced by the Principal, Dean, and distinguished guest speakers.
The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Renjini Ramachandran, Senior Resident, Department of Community Medicine, and IEC Administrator, SUTAMS, which was followed by the inaugural address delivered by Dr. Sivasuthan, Principal, SUT Medical College.
The training featured three enlightening sessions:
1. Principles of Ethics and ICMR Guidelines – by Dr. Mohanan Nair, Ethicist and Public Health Consultant, Chairman of the Institutional Ethics Committee at Sree Gokulam Medical College
2. Structure, Role, and Responsibilities of the Ethics Committee – by Dr. Regi Jose, Chairperson of the IEC, SUTAMS; Member Secretary of the IEC at Sree Gokulam Medical College; Professor in the Department of Community Medicine at Sree Gokulam Medical College, and a Member of the Forum for Ethics Review Committees in India (FERCI)
3. GCP Guidelines and NDCT Rules 2019 – by Dr. Swetha Reba Mathews, distinguished member of the Core Training Panel of the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India under the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission; Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacology, Sree Gokulam Medical College ; Member of the Institutional Ethics Committee at Believers Church Medical College Hospital, as well as a Member of FERCI.
A thought-provoking panel discussion on “Roles and Responsibilities of IEC Members” was conducted, followed by a post-test and an interactive valedictory session recognizing the Best Performer of the workshop.
The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. Regi Jose, expressing appreciation to the speakers, participants, and organizing committee followed by the National Anthem. The event served as an enriching platform to strengthen knowledge of ethics and regulatory frameworks in clinical research.

As part of our vibrant cultural traditions, SUT Academy of Medical Sciences proudly celebrated Ayudha Pooja—a day that pays homage to the instruments and tools that support our daily lives, work, and learning.
On this auspicious occasion, the entire campus came together in a spirit of reverence and gratitude. From stethoscopes and surgical instruments to laboratory equipment and learning tools, each item was respectfully cleaned, decorated, and worshipped—acknowledging their invaluable role in our mission of education, healing, and service.
The celebration began with a traditional Pooja ceremony, attended by students, faculty, and staff. The air resonated with Vedic chants, floral decorations adorned our departments, and a deep sense of unity was felt throughout the campus. Prayers were offered for the smooth functioning of all tools and the continued excellence of our academic and healthcare endeavours.

World Food Day – World Food Day is an international day celebrated every year worldwide on October 16 to commemorate the date of the founding of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in 1945.
Global Handwashing Day – Global Handwashing Day is an international hand washing promotion campaign to motivate and mobilize people around the world to improve their hand washing habits. Washing hands at critical points both during the day and washing with soap are important. In 2008, Global Handwashing Day was celebrated for the first time.
World Mental Health Day – World Mental Health Day is an international day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma. It was first celebrated in 1992 at the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health, a global mental health organization with members and contacts in more than 150 countries.
