Department of Respiratory Medicine at SUTAMS specializes in Critical Care, Sleep Medicine, Tuberculosis and disorders relating to the lungs.

The department provides comprehensive consultative evaluation and management for patients with pulmonary diseases such as Tuberculosis, Asthma- Acute and chronic, Pulmonary embolism, Emphysema and chronic bronchitis, Interstitial lung diseases, Lung Cancer, Sarcoidosis, Pulmonary vascular diseases, Fungal infections of the lung, Sleep apnea, insomnia and other sleep disorders.

The department of Respiratory Medicine at SUTAMS is also performing various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the department like Pulmonary Function tests, fiberoptic and rigid bronchoscopy, transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA) and biopsy (EBB, TBLB). Thoracocentesis, ICD placement and pleural biopsy for diagnosis of pleural diseases. For various lung lesions percutaneous needle biopsies are also done. In emergencies the department is also performing emergency bronchoscopic intubations.
