SUT Academy of Medical Sciences observes ‘Indian Constitution Day 2021‘ on 26 November 2021 marking this special day of importance.

#IndianConstitutionDay, also known as National Law Day, is celebrated in India on 26 November every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. On 26 November 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted to the Constitution of India, and it came into effect on 26 January 1950.

SUT Academy of Medical Sciences, Vattapara, Trivandrum is organising a one-day program on 24th November 2021 which will include Quiz program and Poster presentation by MBBS students of 2017,2018 & 2019 batches, during the World Antimicrobial Awareness Week, 2021 (November 18-24, 2021). According to the 2021 theme, Spread Awareness, Stop Resistance, SUTAMS faculty and students have decided to be AMR Awareness champions. As a part of spreading awareness pamphlets in local language was distributed to patients during this week regarding how to take antibiotics correctly, antibiotic resistance, the dangers of misuse and preventing infections by vaccination, hand washing, safer sex, and covering nose and mouth when sneezing.


Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is a global public health threat today, and one that has been recognised as a silent pandemic. Antimicrobials – including antibiotics, antivirals, antifungals and antiparasitics – are medicines used to prevent and treat infections in humans, animals and plants. AMR is one of the biggest threats to global health, food security, and development today. It can affect anyone, of any age, in any country. AMR occurs naturally, but misuse of antibiotics in humans and animals is accelerating the process. A growing number of infections – such as pneumonia, tuberculosis, gonorrhoea, and salmonellosis – are becoming harder to treat as the antibiotics used to treat them become less effective. AMR leads to longer hospital stays, higher medical costs and increased mortality. WHO has declared that AMR is one of the top 10 global public health threats facing humanity. Misuse and overuse of antimicrobials are the main drivers in the development of drug-resistant pathogens. AMR accelerates due to the misuse and overuse of antimicrobials not only in human health but also in animal health, food-animal production and crop production. In addition, environment plays a significant role: waste from farms, factories, community and healthcare settings contributing to the emergence and spread of AMR through environmental routes. Lack of clean water and sanitation and inadequate infection prevention and control promotes the spread of microbes, some of which can be resistant to antimicrobial treatment. The cost of AMR to the economy is significant. Without effective antimicrobials, the success of modern medicine in treating infections, including during major surgery and cancer chemotherapy, would be at increased risk.

Roentgen Day or World Radiology Day 2021 was observed in grand style on 8th November at SUTAMS.

SUTAMS has organised 3 days *MEDICAL EDUCATION UNIT: First Revised Basic Course Workshop* during 27, 28 and 29th October 2021

Aim:
* To enable faculty to avail modern education technology for teaching CBME curriculum
* To improve the quality of medical teaching by training the teachers

Objective:
– Sensitize teachers about new concepts in teaching and assessment methods,
– Develop knowledge and clinical skills required for performing the role of competent and effective teacher, administrator, researcher and mentor.

Every year on October 11, International Day of the Girl Child is celebrated to empower girls and amplify their voice. It acknowledges the importance, power and potential of adolescent girls by encouraging the opening up of more opportunities for them.

This day also holds importance as it eliminates the gender-based challenges that little girls face around the world, including child marriages, discrimination, violence and poor learning opportunities.

 

SUT Academy of Medical Sciences observes ‘World Mental Health Day 2021’ on 10th October 2021 marking this special day of importance.

World Mental Health Day 2021 is an international day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma. It was first celebrated in 1992 at the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health, a global mental health organization with members and contacts in more than 150 countries

 

SUT Academy of Medical Sciences observes ‘World Post Day 2021’ on 09th October 2021 marking this special day of importance.

World Post Day is an international day that happens each year on October 9, the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union, which started in 1874 in Switzerland. The UPU was the start of the global communications revolution, introducing the ability to write letter to others all over the world.

 

SUT Academy of Medical Sciences observes ‘Indian Air Force Day 2021’ on 08th October 2021 marking this special day of importance.

Indian Air Force Day is celebrated every year on 8 October. This day marks the anniversary of establishment of Indian Air Force (#IAF) in the year 1932. The Indian Air Force has participated in various wars and missions (including humanitarian aid and disaster relief missions during natural calamities). It has been growing ever since and plays a very significant role in Indian’s Defence.
