CME on Observance of World Tuberculosis Day 2026

In observance of World Tuberculosis Day, the Department of Respiratory Medicine at SUT Academy of Medical Sciences organized a CME on the 24th of March, 2026 at ACS Auditorium in the college premises. The event aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals in the management of TB, focusing on the latest developments and approaches in diagnosis and treatment.
  
Inauguration
The CME event commenced with an inauguration ceremony at 9:30 AM. The ceremony set a collaborative tone for the event, underscoring the importance of continuous learning and updating medical practices to improve patient outcome.
  
Academic Sessions
The academic sessions began promptly at 10:30 AM, featuring distinguished speakers who shared their expertise on various aspects of TB management.
  
1. PAEDIATRIC TUBERCULOSIS-AN UPDATE

Dr. Lalitha Kailas initiated the academic sessions with an insightful presentation on the PAEDIATRIC TUBERCULOSIS –UPDATE and elaborated on latest advances in diagnosis, treatment regimens and preventive therapy in children .The session was truly enlightening and clinically relevant for all of us.
  
2. WHAT IS NEW IN THE DIAGNOSIS OF TUBERCULOSIS

Time : 11:15 AM – 11:55 AM
The second session, led by Dr. Sanjeev Nair, focused on WHAT IS NEW IN THE DIAGNOSIS OF TUBERCULOSIS. The session provided a comprehensive overview of the latest NTEP guidelines and their application in clinical practice especially role of rapid molecular tests, early drug resistance detection and AI assisted imaging.
  
3. AN UPDATE ON TREATMENT OF TUBERCULOSIS

Chair Person : Dr. P.G.Vijayamohanan
Time : 12:00 PM – 12:40 PM
Dr. Anitha Kumari K concluded the academic presentations with AN UPDATE ON TREATMENT OF TUBERCULOSIS and highlighted recent changes and recommendations, stressing the need for adherence to these guidelines to enhance the quality of care for TB patients.
  
The CME event concluded with a lunch session Overall, the CME on tuberculosis update-2026 was conducted smoothly and adhered to the planned schedule. The event successfully provided a platform for healthcare professionals to update their knowledge, exchange ideas, and improve their clinical practice in TB management. The participation of 120 registered attendees reflected the strong interest and commitment to continuing medical education in this critical field.
