The White Coat Ceremony for the 2024 MBBS batch was held on October 26 at the ACS Auditorium, SUT Academy of Medical Sciences (SUTAMS). Starting at 10 AM, the ceremony opened with an introduction to SUTAMS, highlighting its facilities, programs, achievements, and future development plans.
The chief guest, Dr. Col. K.E. Rajan, along with the Principal, Dr. Ambili Ramesh, Vice Principal, Dr. Arun R., Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Elephege Tajan, Chief Vigilance Officer, Mr. Anil Kumar, Resident Medical Officer, Dr. Selmath, and all department heads were invited to the stage. Following a morning prayer, Dr. Sivasuthan, Head of Forensic Medicine, delivered the welcome address.
A lamp-lighting ceremony was performed by the Principal, faculty members, and two students from the 2024 batch. Dr. Ambili Ramesh then gave an inspiring speech, followed by remarks from Dr. Col. K.E. Rajan, who addressed the students and shared guidance on their MBBS journey ahead.
The White Coat Donning Ceremony saw faculty members presenting coats to the students in groups of eight, until all 150 students had received theirs. Dr. Ashok Gopinath, Head of Surgery, then led the students in the White Coat Oath, marking their official entry into the field of medicine.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Selmath, Resident Medical Officer, followed by the National Anthem.
