The Indian Coast Guard (#ICG) is a Maritime Law Enforcement and Search and Rescue agency that protects India’s maritime interests and enforces its maritime law, with jurisdiction over the territorial waters of India, including its contiguous zone and exclusive economic zone. The #IndianCoastGuard was formally established on 1 February 1977 by the Coast Guard Act, 1978 of the Parliament of India. It operates under the Ministry of Defence.

SUT Academy of Medical Sciences observes ‘World Leprosy Eradication Day’ on 30th January 2021 marking this special day of observance.

World Leprosy Day is observed internationally every year on the last Sunday of January to increase the public awareness of Leprosy or Hansen’s Disease. This date was chosen by French humanitarian Raoul Follereau as a tribute to the life of Mahatma Gandhi who had compassion for people afflicted with leprosy.

Data Privacy Day is an international event that occurs every year on 28 January. The purpose of Data Privacy Day is to raise awareness and promote privacy and data protection best practices. It is currently observed in the United States, Canada, Israel and 47 European countries.

SUT Academy of Medical Sciences observes ‘Birthday of LalaLajpat Rai’ on 28th January 2021 marking this very special day of observance. This occasion also happens to his Birth Anniversary.

#LalaLajpatRai is popularly known as ‘Punjab Kesari’ or the ‘Lion of Punjab’. He was a great leader, historian, eminent editor, social and religious reformer, and powerful orator. Lala Lajpat Rai along with Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Bipin Chandra Pal formed the trinity of militant leaders ‘Lal-Bal-Pal

#SUTAMS celebrated the 72nd #Republicday on 26 th January 2021. Dr. Salil Kumar K, Principal hoisted the National Flag and addressed the participants. He emphasized on the role of citizens in Covid-19 pandemic. Chief Administrative Officer. Mr Elphege Tajan, On behalf of the Management addressed the gathering. National Tourism Day was established to promote the tourism industry and recognize its contribution to the growth and sustainability of tourist destinations and local communities.

Every year, January 25 is celebrated as the National Tourism Day in India. This day has been marked by the government in order to promote tourism in the nation. It is dedicated to educate and inform people about the vital role of tourism in the country and how it plays a crucial role in the Indian economy. India is a diverse country and is filled with the alluring beauty of culture and history. SUT Academy of Medical Sciences observes ‘National Voters Day 2021’ on 25th January 2021 marking this special day of observance by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and this being the 11th National Voters Day.

The theme for this year’s NVD, ‘Making Our Voters Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed’, envisages active and participative voters during elections. It also focuses on ECI’s commitment towards conducting elections safely during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The National Voters’ Day has been celebrated on January 25 every year since 2011, all across the country to mark the foundation day of Election Commission of India, i.e. 25th January 1950. The main purpose of the NVD celebration is to encourage, facilitate and maximize enrolment, especially for the new voters. Dedicated to the voters of the country, the day is utilized to spread awareness among voters and for promoting informed participation in the electoral process. New voters are felicitated and handed over their Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) in the NVD functions.

During the event, the Honourable President of India will confer the National Awards for the year 2020-21 and launch ECI’s Web Radio:‘Hello Voters’. The National Awards for the Best Electoral Practices will be conferred on State and District level officers for their outstanding performance in the conduct of elections in different spheres such as IT initiatives, Security Management, Election Management during COVID-19, Accessible Election and contribution in the field of voter awareness and outreach. National Awards will also be given to important stakeholders like national icons, CSOs and media groups for their valuable contribution towards voters’ awareness.
