Today, June 18, is marked as International Picnic Day, a day to urge people to get outside and enjoy one other’s company. Individuals used to go on picnics to get away from their mundane everyday lives, and while it is difficult to engage in such activities due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there are still ways you can celebrate this day with your loved ones virtually. This day is also widely recognised as an informal eating festival that serves as a getaway from formalities. Hence let us pay more attention to serving our taste buds this time around while staying indoors.

Autistic Pride Day is a pride celebration for autistic people held on June 18 each year. Autistic pride recognises the importance of pride for autistic people and its role in bringing about positive changes in the broader society. Autistic Pride Day was first celebrated in 2005 by Aspies For Freedom (AFF) who selected June 18 because it was the birthday of the youngest member of the group at that time. The AFF is a solidarity and campaigning group that aims at raising public awareness of the autism rights movement. The aim of Aspies For Freedom is to educate the public that the autism spectrum is not always a disability, and that there are advantages as well as disadvantages.

Desertification and Drought Day is marked on June 17 across the globe. As the name suggests, the day is meant for restoration of degraded land and to create and raise awareness regarding prevention of desertification of the soil. This year, the theme of the day has been finalised as “Restoration. Land. Recovery. We build back better with healthy land.
SUTAMS inaugurated the New Diagnostic Pathology Wing
SUT Academy of Medical Sciences inaugurated the new Diagnostic Pathology Wing.
In our newly constructed Central laboratory complex, the Diagnostic Pathology Wing was inaugurated on 16 th March 2021 by our Principal,Dr.Salil Kumar.K.
We have separate well equipped laboratories for Histopathology, Cytopathology, and Hematology with well trained technical staffs.
There was a pooja organized by the management prior to the inauguration abiding covid protocol. HOD’s and other staffs from the co-departments – Microbiology and Biochemistry were also present on the auspicious occasion.

The new Biochemistry Clinical Laboratory has moved into the laboratory complex of the renovated building in the hospital on 09.06.2021 at 9 am. A small blessing ceremony was organized and ribbon cutting was done by the Hon’ble Principal Dr. Salil Kumar, SUTAMS. The Rector, CFO, Administrative officer, Medical Superintendent, RMO, and respective department heads and faculties were present on the occasion.
