NMC Webinar on Anti-Ragging

12 Aug 2025

On August 12th, the National Medical Commission (NMC) conducted a national-level webinar on the importance of Anti-Ragging, marking the observance of Anti-Ragging Day. Sree Uthradom Thirunal Academy of Medical Sciences (SUTAMS) actively participated in the webinar, underlining its commitment to a ragging-free and student-friendly academic environment.

The webinar focused on the implementation of the UGC’s regulations on curbing ragging in higher educational institutions, which are mandatory for all colleges and universities. These guidelines aim to eliminate ragging in all forms and ensure a safe and respectful atmosphere for students.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has taken proactive steps in this direction, including launching awareness campaigns, uploading informative videos on its website, and promoting campus-level engagement. As part of its efforts, August 12th has been designated as Anti-Ragging Day, followed by Anti-Ragging Week from August 12th to 18th every year.

Institutions across the country are encouraged to observe this week through:
• Inaugural events
• Poster making, slogan writing, and essay competitions
• Social media campaigns and awareness videos
• Workshops, seminars, and interactive sessions
• Screening of anti-ragging short films and participation in the National Contest 2025 featuring digital posters, reels, and short videos

By joining this national initiative, SUTAMS continues to support and promote zero tolerance toward ragging, ensuring a positive and secure environment for its students.
